| How to Make a Vodka Cosmo Jun 30th 2012, 20:00 The flavors of cranberry and lime, along with vodka and orange liqueur, make this martini-style aperitif delicious. Also known simply as "Cosmopolitan", this is a fairly recent cocktail from America that has grown in popularity. Serve it in a martini glass with a wedge of lime. Edit Ingredients Servings: 1 - 1 oz (30ml) vodka (plain or citrus flavored)
- 1/2 oz (15ml) triple sec or another orange-flavored liqueur
- 1/2 oz (15ml) lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 oz (15ml) cranberry juice (diet if you're making the low calorie version)
- Ice
- Lime wedge or twist of lime
- Assemble the ingredients.
- Combine the vodka, orange liqueur, citrus juice and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker.
- Add ice to the shaker and replace the lid.
- Shake until the drink is well chilled. You'll be able to tell that it's well chilled when the outside of the cocktail shaker begins to condense (fog up).
- Strain the drink into a martini glass.
- Garnish the drink by adding a lime wedge or twist of lime to the rim.
- You can try other orange liqueurs, like Cointreau, in place of the triple sec.
- Lime juice increases the sourness of this drink; it can be made without lime juice if preferred.
