| How to Make Cream Cheese Tarts Jun 16th 2012, 20:00 There are many reasons that these deliciously mouth-watering cream cheese tarts are, well, the best! Cream cheese tarts are very easy to make, and take little time. They're perfect for an after-school snack, or a dessert for after dinner. Here's how to make them. Edit Ingredients - 1 cup of cream cheese
- 3 cups of graham cracker crumbs
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup of self-rising flour
- Candies and garnishes such as chocolate chips, etc. (optional)
- 1 cup of water (or milk for a creamier taste)
- Banana (optional)
- Get prepared. Lay out all ingredients and tools on the working surface. Wash your hands, and make sure to dry them. Preheat oven to 400ºF/200ºC.
- Make the dough. In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups of graham cracker crumbs and 1 cup of warm milk. Mix until it forms a sticky consistency, and add more milk as necessary. Make sure crumbs are visible. Add 1/2 cup of flour into the mixture and stir. Be careful not to over-stir. Keep mixing until the 1/2 cup of flour blends in. Moderately add the rest of the flour until you have a dough-like mixture.
- Form the crust. Take out the muffin tray and coat each cup with a little vegetable oil. Take a spoonful of the prepared dough and coat each cup at the bottom and around the sides with dough. Be careful not to make the crust too thick, nor too thin.
-
Crust should look similar to this when in oven. Bake the crust. Let the crust bake at 400ºF/200ºC for 9 minutes, or until a little hardened. Check on the crust every 3 minutes to make sure it isn't burnt. -
Fill the cups, then add milk. Fill the tart. When the tarts are hardened, take about 1 spoonful, depending on the size of the cup, and fill each cup to the top with cream cheese. Bake at the same temperature for another 5 minutes, then take out of the oven. With a spoon or knife, spread the cream cheese evenly over the top of the tart. Also, pour about 1 teaspoon of a little milk on top of each individual tart. Let bake for one more minute. -
Remove tarts from muffin cups, then garnish. Garnish. Take the tarts out of the oven, and let cool for at least 5 minutes. Remove from the cups after cooling, using a knife to separate the crust from the sides, and a spoon to scoop up the tarts. Place the tarts on a plate, cutting board, or tray. Garnish as wished. - Enjoy and store. The tarts will keep in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Cover the plate, tray, or cutting board with plastic wrap while storing.
- They aren't the most elegant dessert, but they are quick and easy to make, which means kids can make them!
- If you would like something with more flavour, add banana and chocolate chips inside and on top.
- Adding marshmallows and letting them melt is also a great idea.
