| How to Play Werewolf in IRC Aug 19th 2012, 00:00 Werewolf is a popular online game, based on the game 'Mafia'. It's fun, and can be a little addictive. It can also be a little hard to get the hang of, so this article will show you how to play this fun game. - Understand how the game works. It's a night and day cycle. At night, the wolves pick who to kill, while everyone else "sleeps". Then, when they wake up, the villagers vote on who to kill, hoping it's a wolf. The villagers win if they kill all the wolves; the wolves win if their numbers are equal to the villagers.
- Now that you've found out how the game works, it's time to look at the roles:
- Villager - The villager is the simplest part, where, in the daytime, you lynch (or vote on who to kill). You try and narrow down who the wolf(s) is/are. To lynch, type: !lynch namehere.
- Village Drunk - This is just an identifiable villager, since there is only one.
- Harlot - The Harlot has the decision of visiting people each night, to see if a person is safe. But if you visit a wolf, you will die. Just type !visit namehere
- Seer - The Seer is one of the most valuable roles in the game, to kill, or to keep alive. When you're Seer, you can have a vision every night, to see who's safe. To see someone, type !see <namehere>. Seer sees cursed player as a wolf and a traitor as a regular villager.
- Gunner - The Gunner has two bullets. You can chose to shoot during the day, and see if you shot a wolf. To shoot, just type !shoot namehere.
- Traitor - When all of the wolves are dead, the traitor becomes a wolf.
- Guardian Angel - (GA) The Guardian Angel can save someone each night, but if he or she saves a wolf, he or she could die.
- Detective - (det) The Detective is similar to a Seer. This player can see roles of other players in the day. The Detective can see who is the traitor and cursed villager, but there's a chance he or she will reveal to a wolf when using his or her powers. Do !id <namehere> to check role of player.
- Learn the commands. The commands are:
- !lynch namehere (Anyone - Day time)
- !kill namehere (Wolf)
- !see namehere (Seer)
- !visit namehere (Harlot
- !Shoot namehere (Shooter, or gunner)
- !join (Lets you join the game)
- !ping (Signals other members of the channel)
- !start (Starts the game)
- !stats (Shows who is playing and how many parts there are)
- !votes (Shows how many votes there are, and who got voted).
- Now that you know all of the parts and the commands, it's time to begin. To play, go to http://webchat.freenode.net and type in #wolfgame and your username. When the game starts, see if you get a message from the bot running the game. If you do, you're a special––don't reveal if you're a special. If you don't get a message from the game bot, you're a villager.
- If you're a special, make your move quickly, as the night only lasts two minutes.
- After night, it should be day. If you have been killed by a wolf, don't be downcast, it's just a game. If you've survived the night, try narrowing down the people. Someone needs to claim the Drunk, and when they do, the Seer and Harlot should PM the Drunk. After the Seer, Harlot, and the Drunk talk, the Drunk leads the lynching.
- After you decide on who to lynch, it should be night. Just repeat the steps, until you win, and the game is over.
- Anything that is done by the specials, except for shooting and lynching, is done in the pywolf tab. You wouldn't want to blow your cover!
- If you're a new player, there are always experienced users who are happy to help teach you.
Edit Warnings - Don't tell what part you're playing, unless you're a villager, or the village drunk. Exposing any other part you're playing could get you killed.
- Sometimes the Seer could see you, and see that you're a wolf. If you're not a wolf, you're probably a cursed villager.
- People will probably lie a little to win the game, but that is the point of the game.
