How to Make Bacon and Eggs Jello Shots
Sep 24th 2012, 14:00

Bacon-flavored vodka and gummy fried eggs create both the taste and appearance, respectively, of this unique Jello shot. You can substitute maple-flavored syrup for the salted caramel syrup, if desired.

Edit Ingredients

Servings: 18 to 24

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel flavored syrup
  • 1 cup bacon-flavored vodka, chilled
  • 1/4 cup bacon, finely diced
  • Gummy fried eggs for topping

Edit Steps

Prepare the bacon gelatin

Make sure that you don't use salted caramel sauce when you make this gelatin. Use a syrup that is designed to be added to coffees or other beverages.

  1. Lightly spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Pour the water into a saucepan and add the gelatin to it, allowing it to bloom for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Heat the water over low heat and stir the gelatin with a whisk for about 5 minutes or until it dissolves.
  4. Add the salted caramel flavored syrup to the mixture.
  5. Add the bacon-flavored vodka and stir the wet ingredients with a whisk.
  6. Sprinkle the bacon on top of the gelatin.
  7. Pour the gelatin into the loaf pan and refrigerate it for 4 hours or overnight.

Add the eggs

Make sure to wait to place the gummy eggs on top of the shots until just before you serve them. The water in the gelatin will cause the gummy eggs to deteriorate in quality.

  1. Use an offset spatula to loosen the gelatin from the sides of the pan.
  2. Place your palm on top of the gelatin and invert the loaf pan over a cutting board.
  3. Gently ease the gelatin onto the cutting board with your hand.
  4. Cut the gelatin into squares with a chef's knife and place the squares on a chilled serving tray.
  5. Place one gummy fried egg on the top of each shot just before you serve the shots.
  6. Finished.

Edit Tips

  • If the texture of the chopped bacon within the gelatin bothers you, then simply leave the chopped bacon out of the gelatin.
