How to Make Cherry Chocolates Sep 22nd 2012, 02:00 Whether you're looking for a gift, something to serve at a dinner party or just a special treat for yourself, homemade chocolates will always go down well. These cherry chocolates are quick and easy to make and are much cheaper and nicer than a box of already made chocolates. Edit Ingredients - Glacé (crystallised or candied) cherries
- 6 oz. Chocolate
- 2 oz. Condensed milk
- Sliver of Butter
- Note that amounts may vary depending on the size of your molds
- Place 4 ounces of chocolate in one bowl and 2 ounces in the other.
- Melt the chocolate. Put the bowl with 4 ounces of chocolate in it in the microwave and stir every 10 seconds. Once it is almost all melted, put it to one side.
- Add to the other bowl the same amount of condensed milk, by weight, as there is chocolate in that bowl (2 ounces in this example).
- Add a small sliver of butter to the condensed milk and chocolate.
- Microwave until the chocolate and butter are melted, stirring every 10 seconds.
- Add a few drops of cherry liquor and mix well.
- Coat the sides of the chocolate moulds with melted chocolate. A teaspoon or a knife will work fine for this.
- Chop the glacé cherries in half.
- Push a fork through the flat side of one of the cherry halves and dip in the condensed milk and chocolate mixture. Put the cherry into one of the chocolate moulds. Repeat for the rest of the chocolates.
- Fill the moulds to the top with melted chocolate and put in the fridge to set.
- Remove the chocolates from the moulds once set.
- These make brilliant gifts. Just put them in a cellophane bag and tie ribbon around the top.
- If you can't find candied cherries in the grocery store, make your own by using maraschino cherries and washing them in a lightly beaten egg white then rolling them in superfine/caster sugar.
Edit Things You'll Need - Two microwave safe bowls.
- Chocolate moulds.
