How to Make Chocolate Egg Nog Pie Dec 23rd 2012, 17:00 Who would or wouldn't love a combination of eggnog and chocolate? This is a pie that leads you to a luxury taste in your mouth. Edit Ingredients - 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups eggnog
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
- Mix together the graham cracker crumbs, the margarine or butter, and the sugar in a bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Form this mixture into a pie plate. Then set aside.
- Pour the eggnog into a double boiler (bain marie). Heat the eggnog to boiling over a low heat inside the double boiler, on the stovetop. Stir constantly to prevent burning.
- Add the chocolate chips, when the eggnog has warmed up. Mix through to aid melting.
- Add some softened gelatin as well as the milk into this boiling mixture. Keep stirring the mixture until the gelatin is fully dissolved.
- Turn off the stove once the mixture has been fully allowed to dissolve. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Fold in the whipped cream when mixture begins to thicken. Pour into the preformed pie base.
- Refrigerate until the pie has been fully formed. It is a good idea to cover in plastic to prevent fridge odors affecting the pie.
- Serve. Serve with whipped cream, yogurt or a berry coulis.
- Finish the pie off with a few decorative-only specialties.
Edit Warnings - Always take care when using the stove.
