How to Make a Topsy Tail Tool

A topsy tail tool is a very helpful object for making specific hairstyles. It helps you in flipping your hair or in pulling it through something like a braid or ponytail to create a new style. While you can get topsy tail tools in a store, they're so simple to make at home that you're better off to do so. And the best part is that you can make it with things that can be found at home.

Edit Steps

  1. Take a pipe cleaner. Any colour is fine.

  2. Twist it exactly in half.

  3. Insert two or three of your fingers between the two of the pipe cleaners' wires. Twist the remaining sections.

  4. Add an optional extra. You can also insert an eyeshadow brush's bud to the end of the wires; this will stop the wires tangling up in your hair and pulling them. While optional, this might be ideal for those with longer hair.

  5. Finished.

Edit Tips

  • This object is very useful to have for styling wedding hairdos. Make a bunch so that bride and bridesmaids can grab them as they need them (and nobody has to worry if any go missing).

Edit Warnings

  • Keep pipe cleaners away from small children. The wires may present a safety hazard.

Edit Things You'll Need

  • Pipe cleaners (also known as chenille sticks)
  • Scissors (to try different sizes by trimming the pipe cleaner)
  • Eyeshadow brush buds or cotton bud ends (optional)
