How to Clear the iCal Cache
Feb 2nd 2013, 02:00

Deleting the cache in iCal on a Mac may solve some technical problems. It's easier than it sounds.

Edit Steps

  1. Quit iCal.

  2. Go to your library folder. Get there by pressing Go and the Option key simultaneously from Finder. Detailed instructions on how to find the library folder can be found here.

  3. Go to Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache. Make a copy of "Calendar Cache" for backup. Move the original "Calendar Cache" to the trash.

  4. Repeat the procedure for an iCal file. Go to Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal if that folder exists. Make a backup copy of "Cache.db". Put the original "Cache.db" in the trash.

  5. Restart iCal. Your iCal cache is now cleared.
  6. If problems persist, back up and then delete Library/Calendars/*.calendar/Events in similar fashion.
