Sit on the floor with the bar above you and your legs extended in front of you. Grab the bar with an overhand grip, and position your hands shoulder-width apart. Keep your body braced throughout the movement.

Straighten your arms completely as you lift your body off the floor until only your heels are placed firmly on the floor. Your body should form a straight line from your ankles to your head (a). Lift your chest to the bar by pulling your shoulder blades back and keeping your wrists straight. Pause, then slowly lower your body back to the starting position (b). That's one rep.
