You can fry it in a pan, bake it in the oven, or render the fat for use in another dish. All of those methods, however, have one drawback in common: they can leave a lingering smell and a layer of grease all over your kitchen. As an alternative, consider cooking bacon on a grill. Learning how to grill bacon is a matter of following the following steps. - Purchase your bacon. When buying bacon specifically for grilling, look for the thickest cut you can find. Thick slices of bacon are easier to handle on the grill, as thinner slices pose a risk of falling through the grates or burning onto them.
- Light the grill. Add the coals and heat the grill as you normally would. Before cooking, however, you need to offset the coals. Remove the grill grate and push all the coals to 1 side of the grill. This will create both a hotter side and a cooler side. Replace the grate.
- Oil the grill grate. The best way to oil a grill grate is by grabbing a rolled-up towel in a pair of tongs, dipping the towel into some vegetable oil, and rubbing the oil across the grates. As an alternative, you could quickly rub a piece of the bacon across the grates.
